Baking Soda

Do you realize how useful baking soda is in the home, not just for cooking? This is probably one of my top ingredients to have in my cupboard not just in the kitchen but also in the bathroom and also for cleaning.  Baking soda has become one of those items that I don’t want to run out of.  We have stopped using shampoo on our hair, and are now cleaning our hair just with baking soda, then rinsing with vinegar to condition and soften.

Another tip, if you have coffee/tea stains in your cups, make a paste with baking soda and water, then rub this mix on the stains and they will come off.

Baking soda and vinegar are the best things to use for cleaning, better for the environment and a lot cheaper than commercial cleaners.

Another item I make with baking soda is my deodorant.  I just use water with baking soda and whatever essential oil I want for fragrance, put them in a spray bottle and you are ready to go, so quick and easy.

Another tip is that I buy my baking soda in bulk from Binn Inn where it is 29c per 100g.  You can also buy it in 25kg  packs from various farm stores.

For more recipes using baking soda, I do have a cleaning product recipe brochure and also one for making your own cosmetics.  Let me know if you are interested.
